The initial consultation
Everything starts with a personal conversation. Dr. Jethon conducts this conversation himself — you do not speak to an assistant doctor or a consultant, but directly to the surgeon.
You can discuss your wishes and expectations in a confidential atmosphere. Dr. Jethon examines the anatomical requirements and gives an honest assessment of what result can realistically be achieved. If an operation does not seem medically appropriate, he will tell you openly.
The interview will take place at the PraxisClinic Jadore in Darmstadt or at the Hospital Vithas Aravaca in Madrid. Allow about 30 to 45 minutes. There is no time pressure and no sales pitches.
Before the operation
Once you have decided on a procedure, you will receive detailed instructions on how to prepare. This includes a blood test in advance as well as information about medications that you should stop if necessary - such as blood thinners.
On the day of the operation, you will come to the practice fasting. Comfortable, loose clothing for the journey home is recommended. It makes sense to have someone accompany you on the way back, as you should not drive yourself after twilight sleep.
The day of the operation
The procedure is performed under twilight sleep — you are asleep, but no general anesthesia is necessary. This means less strain on the circulatory system and faster recovery.
The operation itself takes 60 to 90 minutes. Dr. Jethon operates personally. After the procedure, you will rest in the practice, receive care and can usually go home the same day.
You will receive detailed aftercare instructions, pain medication and a direct telephone number for questions.
The first few days afterwards
Swelling and slight discoloration in the surgical area are completely normal and will subside within the first one to two weeks. A feeling of tension in the first few days is to be expected.
Wound care is uncomplicated and will be explained to you in detail. Dr. Jethon and his team can be reached at any time during this phase. If something seems unusual, call — it's better to have too much than too little.
The healing phase
Recovery is usually quick and predictable.
- Week 1: Physical rest. Light everyday activities are possible, strenuous activities are not.
- Week 2 to 3: Return to normal physical activity. Most patients can return to work after about two weeks - or sooner depending on their job.
- From week 5: Sport and sexual activity are possible again.
Optionally, a stretching device can be used to stabilize the results. Dr. Jethon will discuss this with you individually.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to go to hospital for the procedure?
No. The procedure is outpatient. You come to the practice in the morning and usually go home the same day. Hospitalization is not necessary.
How long will I be unable to work?
Most patients can return to work after one to two weeks. It may take a little longer for physically demanding activities. You will receive an individual assessment during the consultation.
Do I need someone to pick me up?
Yes. Since the procedure takes place under twilight sleep, you should not drive your own car on the day of the operation. An accompanying person or a taxi for the way home is recommended.
